Bus terminals sealed in Lahore, intercity bus service suspended
The district administration in Lahore sealed all the bus terminals which resulted in suspension of bus services from Lahore to several destinations across the country here Sunday night.
The closure of bus terminals and suspension of bus service adversely affected the pessangers travelling from Lahore to different parts of the country. Transporters claimed that the administration started closing their bus terminals imposition of Governor Rule in KP.
Passengers travelling to Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, southern Punjab and other parts reported difficulties after their tickets were cancelled and transport services suspended.
Meanwhile, major private bus operators, including Faisal Movers and Daewoo, suspended their services amid reports of restrictions on public transport movement on motorways and national highways.
Motorway police claimed that motorways and highways were open to traffic. They expressed ignorance regarding any directions to suspend bus services.
Another motorway police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said buses were not operating on motorways or highways because of the PTI’s protest call. He added that people travelling in private vehicles could use the roads.
Nevertheless, Transport Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch was unavailable for comment as usual despite repeated attempts.
